Candied Orange Slices


Fantastic on their own as a little sweet treat but candied oranges can be used in so many ways- decorate cakes, add a punch of flavor and texture to cookies, garnish drinks, toss them in a salad. You can't go wrong.


 

In a large saucepan

1 1/2 cups water

1/2 cup granulated sugar


On the sidelines

2 or 3 oranges, sliced roughly 1/4 inch thick

Sparkling sugar, optional

In the large saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a very light boil over medium-low heat.

Add the orange slices and cook for about 30 minutes or so turning them a few times throughout the cooking time.

Remove and let cool on a cooling rack. If you like, decorate with sparkling sugar for added texture and sweetness.
